Basalt Public Arts Commission

2019Grant

The Basalt Public Arts Commission grants provide general operating or project support for local individual artists or nonprofit organizations to implement or sustain arts and cultural opportunities for adults and children in the Town of Basalt.

BPAC is now accepting grant applications for the final round of funding for 2019.

The BPAC Guidelines

What We Fund

Activities for funding consideration include the creation of public art, educational opportunities, and/or community events in the areas of visual, literary, musical, and performing arts.

Review of Applications

Applications will be reviewed seasonally during the summer and winter, and then taken for approval to the Basalt Town Council.

What About Partial Funding?

The Basalt Public Arts Commission may offer partial funding to applicants, at BPAC's discretion when reviewing applications.  Please note that this is a change from the first round of grant funding.

Grant Funding Amounts

Grant funding between $500 and $21,600 is available. The Basalt Public Arts Commission and Basalt Town Council reserve the right to deny any application without extended reason.

Applications For Operating Expenses

Any application submitted for operating expenses shall be reviewed in the same accord to all other applications. Please refer to “Review Criteria” below for how the Basalt Public Arts Commission will prioritize awarding grants.

Applications For Artist Living Expenses

Any application submitted for living expenses for visiting artists shall be reviewed in the same accord to all other applications. Please refer to “Review Criteria” below for how the Basalt Public Arts Commission will prioritize awarding grants.

Applications For Memorials

The Basalt Public Arts Commission shall not consider any funding for memorials in the 2019-2020 granting season.

Who is Eligible to Apply?

All Basalt Public Arts Commission grants shall be open to application from anybody with the intention of creating artwork for the Basalt area.

Any application submitted for operating expenses shall be reviewed in the same accord to all other applications. Please refer to “Review Criteria” below for how the Basalt Public Arts Commission will prioritize awarding grants.

Publicity And Marketing

Any beneficiary of a Basalt Public Arts Commission grant, agrees to provide photography and videography access to “behind-the-scenes” development of their proposed grant. Beneficiary parties also agree without limitation to be featured on any and all Basalt Public Arts Commission and Town of Basalt social platforms.

Artwork Proposed to Be Placed on Public Property

Any artwork placed on property owned by the Town of Basalt shall be subject to approval of location by the Town and discussion of terms.

Our Review Criteria

When reviewing grant submissions we will be prioritizing these elements related to our mission and values below.

Creation of highly interactive, community-driven art.

1.

Art that can be touched, heard and/or experienced.

3.

Installing interactive, community-driven art in places where the community might not otherwise be exposed to the benefits of connecting people through art.

5.

Art that can be experienced in public spaces, where everyone has access to view and participate with the art free of charge.

2.

Art created by the community for the benefit of the community.

4.

Teaching and encouraging others to learn about creating art, building community, and engaging with civic entities. We encourage both the artist(s) and participants to learn together.
